Sun International has increased its longstanding support of South African women’s golf as a tournament host on the nine-tournament strong Sunshine Ladies Tour.
The R400 000 SuperSport Ladies Challenge presented by Sun International was played at the historic Wild Coast Sun Country Club from 26 - 28 February 2019, with Scotlands Jane Turner cruising to victory to win by 4 shots.
The tournament forms a key part of the growth of the Sunshine Ladies Tour, which now offers almost R4.5 million in total prize money.
Sun International has long supported the growth of women’s golf in South Africa at both an amateur and professional level, and most notably in its hosting of the Women’s World Cup of Golf at Sun City.
The Wild Coast Sun Country Club golf course is one of the most picturesque in South African golf with a strong history of hosting some of the biggest tournaments on the men’s professional circuit.
The golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr. and was opened in 1983. This 18-hole championship golf course is laid out over rugged terrain running along the Indian Ocean, which creates a dramatic golfing experience.
Did you know? The signature 13th hole, a par 3, is played across a waterfall and is regarded as one of the best short holes in South Africa.
