Rory McIlroy

The four-time Major winner makes his first appearance in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, hosted by Gary Player, since 2009 when he had to withdraw during the tournament due to illness.

One of the most exciting players in the history of the game, McIlroy has won 23 times during his career, including the 2011 US Open, the 2014 Open Championship, and the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships.

Introduced to the game by his father, Gerry, McIlroy is recognised as one of the true “boy wonders” of golf who reached several significant milestones very early in his career.

He needed only two tournaments as a professional to secure his European Tour card in his debut season. By the age of 22 was the European Tour’s youngest player to reach €10 million in career earnings, and a year later he became the youngest player in PGA Tour history to reach $10 million in career earnings.

McIlroy is a three-time winner of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai, the most recent coming in 2015.
