The Road to
Miss World

Newly crowned Miss South Africa, Adè van Heerden, embarked on her Miss World journey with the hopes to show the Miss World organization her heart. After spending a month in Sanya, China for the Miss World pageant, Adè make waves by making the top 10. Adè made South African history by being the first runner up to place in the top 10 for Miss World, while winning the Beauty with a Purpose title on pageant night as well.

with a Purpose

The Rose Parent Project is Adè’s charity initiative for Miss World. The project places patients suffering from mental health in homes with ‘parents’ who can care for them. As the official ambassador for Lentegeur Hospital, Adè strives to break the stigma of mental health and depression by talking about it. She believes that the sooner we can recognise our feelings, the sooner the path to recovery begins.

“My parents always told me that to promote significant change, you need to be brave. Not the type of bravery of knights in shining armour, but a bravery that allows you to be vulnerable and honest with your emotions.”Adè van Heerden

Hobbies and Interests

“Sometimes you just need to get outdoors, go for a run or a walk and get your mojo back.”Adè van Heerden

An avid athlete, Adè loves spending time hiking or working up a sweat at boxing classes. As a child, you’d find Adè at a ballet class, gymnastics training or playing netball. But this doesn’t mean it’s all lettuce and lunges for Adè; she is an avid baker who is exceptionally proud of her brownie-baking skills and she loves experimenting in the kitchen with flavours. When she isn’t saving lives or baking up a storm, Adè likes to tuck into Mexican food and can be found sharing a great meal with friends.
